look under your truck too. i have read here and have some places on my truck that arent completely painted and its still primer. if you think that may be an issue later have them look at that too.

Just a guess, I'd think that the indentions are probably easier to stamp than applying ribs. I had an S10 Blazer when I a teenager that had ribs on the roof and they created rust points and eventually caused a leaky roof. The headliner eventually dropped to the floor.

Stamping ribs or indentations would be the same. it's all in the form dies. The headliner in my 87 S10 pickem up also fell down and the roof was the only thing that wasn't rusted on that truck. That was the era of crappy steel and cheap glue I believe.

Do the have to be indentations? Wouldn't ribs do the same thing?
ribs are more expensive. and i'm not talking about the finger licking kind.

So far the only thing I have found underneath is the nuts and the tips on the u bolt for the rear leafs are already rusting. I will give the underside a good look-see before going to the dealership. Thanks for the head up.

That's funny that none of the foreign car makers seem to have this problem. I guess that's what I get for buying American!
My dads avalon has tons of small imperfections ranging from the bumpers to the interior..but it's done it's job of being a sedan, just as your truck will do it's job of being a truck.

Obviously you haven't looked at the Titans and the new Tundra. They all share the same issues. The Tundra especially, the fit and finish on their plastic interior is rough at best and the beds smack the back of cab if you hit a bump to hard, plus you get to pay more money for it. Considering Ford produces thousands of trucks per day compared to the foreign ones, I would say their overall quality is pretty good.
BTW, the doors and bumpers are adjustable on their mounts. If it's that bad, Your dealer should have fixed it when they did the prep.!!!!

I agree with CWC's post above. Most dealers don't really prep the vehicles before delivery any more. Just a quick wash and out the door it goes. At least my dealer wanted me to look the truck over and drive it (it was a dealer transfer) and make sure I wanted it before I signed the paperwork.

I drove to Montana with a hunting buddy 3 years ago in his Silverado and at freeway speeds the roof was noisy as hell!!! You could hear it bowing and popping back...probably why they changed theirs, just took them long enough!

Welcome to FTE FoundonRoad. Certainly with your post count, and username... some question your intentions (as did I before reading through the entire post). Lets just call it water under the bridge?

As for your issues, I think they have all been pretty much covered above. The roof indentations aren't there to just provide a watering hole for the local chicadee population. Did you not do a "pre-delivery" walk around with your dealer? That is a standard thing with all of my purchases. I think the compartment divider issues would have been seen before delivery. One thing I wish Ford would offer is true captains chairs with center console (instead of lumping you into the floor shifter). Of course, if they gave you dividers in the console stock, think about all the people complaining about "not being able to fit larger things in". Its tough to please everyone.

Anyways, I hope you get your issues resolved with the local dealer fast, and as painlessly as possible. As you will find out, FTE is an absolute treasure trove of information about our rigs. Good luck, and happy surfing.

Thumbs down

I don't mean to sound like a (insert foul word here), but...

I am getting tired of people getting on the forums just to complain. Seems like some people like to just gripe about things without looking for any kind of solution or seeking anyone's advice. Often they are simply looking to get an arguement going, and it rarely helps anyone.

If you just want to complain, with no useful or entertaining input please go elsewhere.
