Well one problem down, several more to go. Trucks running okay now, fairly smooth, small lope. Seems I'll have to put a balancer off a 79 or so to be able to time it as the old one has no timing marks. Question is about the non-adjustable lifters. What's the best way to change that? Is it very expensive or should I just put new factory rocker arms back in. They're clicking a little. I've seen these roller tip rockers in some catalogs, are they any good? Thanks again for the help.

Mike

I have a 302 that has had a lifter tick for years and has never hurt anything. The ticking is probably a lifter. Have you driven the truck much? If it has set around for awhile, the lifters can get sticky. You can try some high detergent oil like rislone to try to break it loose. The non-adjustable valve train doesn't give any problems until you do radical machine work to the heads and or valves or put an extra wild cam in the engine. If it's stock, the non-adjustable should be fine.
