Coil Spring Perches

On 80 and up 4x4 Dana 44 IFS axles with coil springs, does any know why the passenger side spring perch (cup that the coil spring sits on between spring and radius arm) is about 3/8" taller on the passenger side than the driver's side one? At first I thought I somehow got a truck with the wrong one on one side, but Ford lists two part numbers, one for each side, and I looked at about 10 trucks at the junk yard and they all had the passenger perch taller than the driver's perch.

Just curious as to why and wondering if anyone knows or has a theory????

Most roads are crowned to drain to the sides, so were they pre-loading the passenger side to compensate???

i beleive it is required to make both sides ride at the same hight due to the different angles and lengths of the ttb axle halves you gotta remember they don't pivot dead center
