Ok if the guys thats sellin this is a member and reads this im sorry but you deserve it. OK this says D60 out of a 79 350. First its got ball joints not king pins. Secondly it has D44HD hubs and third its a low pinion. Oh and if the hydro assist didnt give it away. Jury says not a 60. $350 starting price. Heck i dont think its worth $35.
looks like a 44 out of a 76 to 77 1/2 hi-boy. i busted one of those rolling down a snowy hill when my foot sliped of the clutch.35 bucks would be a lil pricey to me
must have got worrie when i asked him to give me the tag numbers as my gf spends a lot of time on ebay selling things i figured i would ask and see what he said he never wrote me back just changed the add. at least sumone wont be confused anymore.
So did I. He sent me a message back saying he changed the listing.
That makes two of us, well, I guess three. He even mentined that there were many people that made him aware that that was not a 60. The guy was actually concerned and did not appear to be trying to rip anybody off. He did not even know what the factory "hydro assist" was.
Just a mistake, no harm no foul!
Good catch though crazyreadneckanyhow!
Yeah hes got my respect for changing it when someone pointd it out. Alot of people on ebay try to rip folks off that dont know any better. just common practice to expect this when i see somethin that aint right. thats why i watch carefully when i buy something.
I contacted him through Ask the Seller. He wrote me back and I stepped him through what the BOM was, how to find it, what the Dana site was, and how to read the Ford tag number from the axle.
He told me he was going to change the ad or kill it as soon as he had the new info. Looks like he kept his word.
I guess he was just misinformed, better informed now :-)
We all know every 4x4 F-250 has a Dana 60 ...
sort of like every 4x4 pickup with a 360 turns into a 390 with an air cleaner change when they never had a 390 in a 4x4 from the factory.
Luckily for me, mine was a swapped in 390 when I found out enough to determine what a FE engine actually was (why oh why do they keep putting 352 on the block) and how to read the head numbers (thanks guys).
Always a learning experience, especially when you venture out on E-Bay to sell stuff. He has had his. ;-)
LOL! Evil bay lingo. Gotta know how to speak e-bay.
Any 8 lug front axle is a Dana 60 on e-bay!
When you see a description of a great running 390, really means it is a 360 on it's last leg.
Tires are like new, really means I had two tires in the shed that I could not sell so I threw them on this thing, and I hope they hold air. Those cracks are not all that bad.
Paint looks like new, means, I found a front clip at the junk yard after I totaled this thing into a tree and it is a close match to the original color.
very well maintaned really means, have almost never changed the oil in this thing, heak it leaks so bad I just add oil every couple of weeks and pray that it does not run out, but I did spread some grease around to make it look like I do this all of the time.
Rarely driven, We all know! This truck was really in a high speed pursuit a few months ago and now that I have it back from impound, I have to sell it to pay all of my legal fees!
