Driveshaft carrier bearing

I have a 01 F350 CC there is a noise in the drive line. I found the thread in the super duty forums about greasing the slip splines. So I slide under to check to se if anyone has done it before. My question is when I pushed up to check the u-joints there is quite a lot of up and down movement of the carrier bearing.its looks like its all in the rubber. Is this normal ? Is the bearing bad I never noticed on my 86 F150 the carrier bearing doing that.

Sounds like you need a new one.

Thats the first thing that happens. The rubber bushing starts tearing and pretty soon the bearing is just flopping around under there. If you don't have a press I would suggest that you take it off of the vehicle and take it to an auto parts store that has. They will usually press the new one on there if you purchase the bearing from them.

That's what I thought I'll get a new one and drop the drive shafts

Thanks
