another E4od problem, searched

hello, i am working on a 94 with an IDI turbo diesel. the trans has been rebuilt but it shifts hard and while it shifts, it slips. (it takes a few seconds to make the shift and you can feel it raise rpms a little. yesterday i put the new injectors and injector pump on it and test drove it. it felt like there was no OD intermittantly because i was cruising 55-65 at 3000 rpms maybe not even in 3rd. the OD light has started flashing now that i put the new injector pump on. could this be a problem with the adjustment on the sensor for the kickdown. it was shifting hard and slipping before the work but the light did not flash. what kind of scanner can be hooked up to this tranny to get codes. thanks all.
