divorcing my transfer case (haha)

okay, i just got my hands on a np435 and a divorced np205 with all the shafts and cross members (which will fit between the rails perfectly) from the donor truck....what other parts/considerations are needed to make the swap possible. so far i can see the rear cab mounts being an issue, as is the u-joints to the front axle....they look kind of funny. u-joint for my D60 is about 3-1/2" wide, but i can't get a good measurement on my highboy parts cuz none of the joints are good...let alone have caps. other than that, my mind just goes blank.

and WTF is the front x-member for the tranny? it doesnt look like it bolts to anything, just goes under the bell housing.

b/c the front drive shaft runs under the trans x-member instead of over it, also the u-joint angles wont be so harsh cuz a divorced t-case sits a little lower than a married one and some jackass here in town told me it couldnt be done....idk, lots of reasons, but those are the best ones i can get off the top of my head at the moment.

I thought you already had a 435, and a 205 in it?
If you are looking for a better front driveline angle, you could re-index you existing stuff, or consider a doubler. You have the good stuff now, and the doubler will move the 205 back so the angles are better. You will have to make a new crossmember anyway, so why not consider doing something more than what you have already? A doubler will be a nice mod that you will enjoy if you wheel the truck.

i do have a 435 and a 205, and cant afford the doubler right now. the divorced 205 would be easier and cheaper to re-index if i ever needed to (vs the married one with the trans adapter)...not to mention if i ever wanted o switch to an automatic or upgrade to a newer manual, all i need to find is a 2wd tranny and slap a new jack shaft in and presto....done

Yeah I was thinking about doin the opposite but then I got to thinking the same thing... the divorsed set up allows for more possibilties! I am going from a 351m/4spd to a 460/C6... shouldn't be too bad.

I would guess that crossmember is there to protect the oil pan, should the driveshaft ever let loose, otherwise it does absolutely nothing
