hi,i am your typical backyard mechanic, have been all my life, but i have a lot of folks that call on me for my services.my problem is with a 1988 ford f-150 and it seems to be in the bottom end.A friend of mine brought to me a job he started and there seems to be major problems in that area.my diagnosis is that he has replaced a rod or main bearing in wrong.the engine turns over hard, and it sounds like it is dieseling or laboring to turn over or run.i hav'nt pulled the oil pan as of now,but i'm thinking it has spun a rod or main bearing due to the fact of the way it turns over and trys to run,but it don't want to accelerate.that is basically the only thing he did besides replacing the oil pump, and that is why i think that is what he did,and that is turn a rod or main bearing backwords and a bearing is overlapping.so if anyone wants to give their advice on this issue i would like to hear from you ty,and i do like to put my two cents in if anyone might want some of my advice.ty larrylcky
