Ive got a 1993 Ford F250 with stock tires. The tires on there right now are more like highway tires but i want to put some tires on there that would be better for off roading. I havnt decided if im going to lift the truck but if i do decide to that wont be for quite awhile. So im basically looking for what tire sizes i can fit on the truck with no rubbing or fender cutting. Thanks
A friend just picked up a 92 and put some 31x10.5x15's on it .... looks stout and has on/off tread pattern. They are from PepBoys. I think he said around $150/Tire. I don't want to kill my MPG and don't do offroad, I plan on some normal size tires 235/75/15's ... probably Yoko Geolanders. But I would like the look he has ... so I may change my mind if his MPG doesn't drop much.
the tires on my truck right now are LT235/85/16. and according to the BFgoodrich site the tires i have right now are 32`s. So would i be able to fit 33`s with out any rubbing?
i've never had a problem going up 1 tire size from stock. anything more than that and you will need to do some measuring first.
and your gas mileage will actually improve with a slightly larger tire as you are numerically lowering the final drive ratio. but there is a line you cross where the weight and rolling resistance of a larger and wider tire will negate that drive ratio. going up 1 or even 2 sizes should get you an improvement but knowing exactly how much will be hard without making sure your speedo is still accurate with a different size tire.
On my f250 1989 model, I started out by going up to 285/75/16 on 16x8 wheels,
when I added my 4" lift (all I wanted) I went out and bought 16x10 wheels and
put some 315/75/16 bfg's and have'nt encountered any rubbing.
