Smile Compression Ratio

I Have A Question About Compression Ratio. I Have A 1975 Ford 300 What Is Compression Ratio For That Motor? The Motor Is Stock. I Have A 240 Head Off Late 60s 240 What Would Compression Ratio Be If I Put It On My 300? I Know This Question Has Been Asked Alot But No One Is Consistent. Some Say 9.5:1 , Some Say 8.5:1. It Is A 58cc Head Any Help Would Be Nice Thanks

i have ohio pistions in my engine and they are 9.5ish:1 with the head and deck milled. so i push 10:1 to 10.5:1. i ask a old ford engine builder that helped me with my engine about the head swap and he said i would all come doen to wich block to witch head and the only wat to know would to be to take them to a good shop. as with the 200 block with a 170 head combo you dont realy know what you are going to get. it could be any were from 9:1 to 14:1 because even in the same years the blocks and heads can be different. food for thought, did you know most of the old UPS trucks hane a 300 in them with forged crank and rods and a lower comp. ratio so the would run longer. they would put this same engine in the f150 and the only way to know was to open her up. i know this dose not help a lot but i hope it will help with the lack of response you are geting.

With stock pistons and a head off of a 240,you should wind up with 9 to 9.5/1 compression.Be prepared to use 91/93 octane.

I Have Had This Truck For About A Year And It Is Not My Daily Driver. I Was Going To Put A V8 In It But Decided To Use The Original I6 It Came With. I Dont See Anyone Running A I6 So I Thought It Would Be Different To Run It. Money Is Not A Problem So Octane Doesnt Matter As Far As That Goes. It Will Be Really Just A Weekend Cruiser And To Make My Brother Think Twice About Giving It To Me. Thanks For The Feed Back. Hope To Hear More
