I may have a bad Crankshaft Position Sensor in my 95 Explorer. Does anyone have a diagram as to the location of this sensor and a procedure to replace it?
I have been told it is in the front of the engine by the crank pulley.
Is this a complicated part to replace?
I may have a bad connection, so I wanted to look at that first before doing anything else.
It's on the timing chain cover right next to the crank pulley. Only two bolts hold it down. You can't miss it if you crawl underneath the front of the vehicle and look up towards the pulley. It kinda looks like the rear axle abs sensor if you have happened to see one. Shouldn't take more than five minutes to remove and replace. Autozone has them for like $40.
Thanks for the info. I was able to crawl under and find it. I took the sensor connections apart, cleaned it, and put it back together and all has been fine ever since. I think I had a corroded connector which was making the fuel pump continute to run when the key was turned to ON.
