I'm addressing this to the well informed and/or experienced on the subject...
Where or how do I determine the significance of BUILD DATE 03/19/2003 (my truck)? I've read over information that suggests differences in ‘03 build dates, and mine looks like a very early date... No problems with the truck, just tenacious curiosity—again... <o></o>
Remember MY truck production usually start to roll out during the prior calander year(i.e. 2003 MY trucks hit the lot in Oct '02). I'd say yours is in the middle of the MY '03 production cycle.

Under normal production, I would agree, however; the early '03 MY trucks were 7.3's and then the 6.0's came out... That got me wondering if the 6.0's were the 2003.25 MY(the first build date of record from what I can tell), hence making the first quarter of '03 the first time the 6.0 was released... I may have a founding father after all...
we recieved our first 6.0 december 02. basically all 03s are the same. if you have no icp in the valve cover on the right head then you have the early engine.
LOL-- my first 6.0 had a build date (it's actually 3 days I think) of 12/13/02--Friday the thirteenth. It was a lemon--just couldn't keep it out of the shop. The other production date you need to be concerned on the early production trucks is 9/29/03 which was when they went to an "updated" 6.0 where they moved some things around--ICP sensor on the right front valve cover is an easy way to tell.

On the valve cover? The only visual I have of the ICP is from the 6oh bible, and it's hidden under a bunch of stuff... So If I don't easily see mine, I guess that's a good thing.

Til it goes out and you have to dig it out from under the turbo. Bowtiehatr and Vloney can tell you the easiest way to change that bugger--lol.
