Best shift kit

What is the best shift kit that you can get for our trucks... I was looking at the bully dog kit but i dont know if it is any good... Also should i get a better tranny cooler in the process.. My temp gauge barely gets to 140 so i dont think that i need one but i guess it couldt hurt

Well, everyone seems to like the BTS VB, and Jody at DP does tunes for them. So I would get the BTS VB, then the DP. I have a DP now and have to send it back to get it tweaked for the BTS VB I'm about to order...

Izzy, I'm in the same boat as you, do we have to pay full price for each new tune?

It's $45 a tune each additional tune IIRC.

I have to second the BTS VB. Its is awesome. It shifted much better than the stock tranny. I dont think that Jody charges the full price for a reburn of the chip. Just call him and he will let you know.

BTS stands for Brian's Truck Shop

http://www.brianstruckshop.com/

If you are planning on adding a chip in the future let him know so that he can calibrate the VB to match. Like a lot of people on here, I recommend DP Tuner. They are the best.

If I remember correctly, Diane told me they'd charge $30 to swap existing programs for BTS tunes. Any additional would be full price, I'm sure. I'm expecting to add 140 smoke, 60 tow, and high idle. I'm thinking it would be $45+$45+$25+$30 total ($155). Maybe they'll be nice and waive the $30 since I'm adding the extras....

That's fair enough! So When I order the VB do I need to tell Brian's that I have DP-Tuner F5. Is this what jrciii56 is saying?

Will they add the BTS VB info to all our existing programs for just $30.00?

When I talked to Diane about all this, she definitely recommended not doing that. My assumption is that Jody does some stuff with the tuning to increase shift pressures that either aren't needed with the BTS VB, need to be adjusted with it, or could cause problems. I never got that far. I just agreed that I'd send it back when I got the new VB.

When I talked to Brian the other day and told him what I was planning on doing, he said get the tuner first if you have to do one then the other. Then call him with his valve body in hand.

My guess is Jody takes out his line pressure parameters because the 4R100 doesn't need them from DP-Tuner with Brian's VB.
