I have a 95 F-150 with a 5.0.I'll be pulling my spare 5.0 out of my 93 Bronc with speed density and rebuilding it.The 93 will be bored .030 and my E7TE heads will be ported and polished as well as my intake and exhaust gasket matched. The shorty header will be coming off and longtubes will be going back on in place.I'll probably use the stock rods and crank..the only things that will be changing internally are the piston heads which will be flat tops if I have enough clearance and an RV cam as well as roller rockers. As far as questions go, with the pistons should I go forged or Hypereutectic? Will the flat tops have enough clearance? What changes will I have to make when i put on te roller rocker arms...probably 1.7's?What else should I consider when doing this build? Thanks all.
Ditch the 1.7 rocker arms and go for a more aggressive cam. Flat top pistons will be just fine with your e7's and a moderate port job. Forged or hypereutectic? Its up to you. Either will do fine.
I had great luck with the comp cams 35-308-8. Gobs more low end power over the stock F4TE grind. Use the recommended springs and rocker ratios with your kit. Crane has some similar grinds that will suffice.
Keep the lift at or below 0.533 for both intake and exhaust. Duration at 0.50 around 200-215 @ intake and slightly higher at exhaust. i.e. if your grind is 210 on the intake side you'd like to see the exhaust at or around 215. Again, this is not an "advertised" duration this is at 0.050." Advertised for a cam that I just described (at 210 and 215 duration at 0.050) would be somewhere around 265 and 270. Lobe separation should be 114*.
