ok i am thinking of a hot rod motor..I plan on boring a 302 block 30 over and stroking it to a 331. All of the internal comoonents will consist of scat and other high quality stuff..... my question is: WITH twin turbos, will the stock block take it? I dont want to do al of this with a block that won't hold up, if ya know waht i mean.
not sure yet. this is just an idea ayt this moment, butt i have the block and will have the money to do it over time. BUT i want to have it running somewhere in the 8 second range through the 1/4 in a mustang (prolly 82-93 body). this will be a BIG project.
Hhmmm, let's see, if I punch these theoretical numbers into my handy 1/4 mile calculator, I come up with: ET(8 seconds) x HP(required) x Weight(late model Mustang) x Trap Speed(awful damn fast) = ????? I wouldn't even begin to think of anything less than a Motorsport A4 block......period. - Don
(Unless you bring a broom and ENJOY sweeping up you motor in front of spectators......)
I've built three cars so far to flog the quarter mile...in my estimation you'll need the BEST of everthing you can buy to get into the 8 second range. Expect to spend $50,000-60,000 at the least if you do the majority of the work. Your cheapest bet would be to purchase a proven used drag car that is certified for 9.99 and quicker, then drop the biggest c.i. Ford big block you can find into it...you might just get by with spending only $30,000 to reach your goal of 8 second times.:-staun
