Spewing white smoke-NEED HELP!

My buddys got a 96 F250 PSD. Recently, he was driving it and all of a sudden, it started spewing huge amounts of grayish smoke from the stacks he has on it. Its done it ever since, and it will barely rev up and has no power whatsoever. It also has a bad diesel knock when this occurs. I though injectors?GPs? What do yall think?

Typically that's an indicator of an injection pump failure... tell him to start saving.

I honestly didnt even know these had injection pumps, i thought that was a IDI thing. Anything else that could cause this?

Ive seen injectors do that, use a digital thermometer on the exhaust ports on each cylinder and see if one cylinder is runing way cooler.

so after spending some time working on it, ive seemed to narrowed it down to either cracked injector cups, bad injectors, or a cracked head. ill keep you guys posted.
