Well, more good news, NOT! I just finished changing CDR valve, injectors and return lines when the freeze plug behind the oil filter anti-freeze tube. I found the freeze plug on the top of the oil filter conector. I had to take the oil filter anti-freeze tube thing off to get a rubber freeze plug into block. Are the rubber freeze plugs ok to use? What would cause it to blow it out? It doesn't apear to be cause by blow-by, it looks like it just popped out. It is a Jasper rebuild motor that was installed before I bought the truck. I still haven't been able to get my pyrometer working, it is a PYRO brand, any suggestions on it? I am waiting for the gasket kit for the oil-anti-freeze thing on the side, should be in tomorrow.
There are 4 O rings, two in each end where the bundle (tube) meets the adapters at each end.
They keep the oil and antifreeze seperated and inside the cooler.
You are not the first person to have freeze plug problems with a Jasper motor.
Does it just pull apart and can I get the O rings from Advanced? I don't think I can get it to an expert, so, do you think the rubber freeze plug will be allright?
I would not use the rubber F/Plug...... they are highly unreliable, no need burning up the engine for the sake of $100. Got AAA get it towed to/from the shop......
Ford or International only items for the oil cooler O rings, cost is about 50 dollars for the O rings and gaskets.
A helper and a couple wood blocks and you can tap it apart, but an arbor press and very slick lubricant is needed to get it back together with the new O rings.
