Hi everyone, the brake lights are not working in my 82 bronco. The directionals and rear driving lights work fine. I checked the bulbs they seem good, I checked the stop light switch at the brake pedal and it has power and the stop light switch does its job by sending current through when I step on the pedal.
Im lost here. any suggestions????
Thanks Matt
So you get voltage OUT of the brake light switch @ the pedal... hmmm. Do the stop lamps work when you engage the hazard flasher? If not the culprit is most likely the hazard switch. ALL of the turn signal and stop lamp circuitry passes THROUGH the hazard switch.
I've had the same problem but mine was the fuse going out almost as soon as I started driving. Turns out it was the turn signal switch unit ,it had a short the at the hazard switch. I think its $100.00 at Auto Zone you'll need a steering wheel puller and the one to press it back on if I remember right .

New Directional/Hazard switch just arrived 15 minutes ago, Installed and problem solved.
I want my son (Mitch) to take some pics of the Bronco and post them. It took he and I over 2 years to build this truck and we are very proud of our 1st project.
