Fuel control valve Question

Fuel control valve Question
Got an 88 F150 with the 4.9L 6 cylinder that I'm parting out...A local guy wants the fuel control valve off it, no problem pulled it this morning...Got t o noticing though, all it is is a valve with 6 fuel lines hooked to it, the fuel pump was mounted about a foot towards the engine also on the frame..My quesion is since no electrical connections to the valve, how does it switch from front to rear tanks????? Something has to switch it....

So essentially you have 3 fuel pumps in a dual tank setup then??? The low pressure pumps in the tank and then the high pressure pump that is frame mounted?? When you slect front to rear tank, that turns on or off the front or rear pump, and the high pressure pump runs all the time....I see now, makes sense....
