four bolts to the frame, 10 to the front clip, some around the gear shifter if its a stick, its not hard if you have enough manpower or machine power to actually lift it off. a solid one will weigh at least a few hundred pounds. replace your cab bushings while your in there and be prepared to cut the old ones out. its not difficult, if you have the same harness, you could do it in a day for just a basic swap and if you have power tools
Some Automatic 2wd's didn't have a cutout in the floor for the shifters. Make sure your donor truck has the hole (if you need it).
78 had a different steering column than 74. Not sure if it has different mount points.
Retain all the wiring from the 74... toss the 78's in a box for spare parts. You don't want to get into rewiring the truck too.
Make sure you swap with a truck that has the same A/C option. The factory A/C has a big cutout in the firewall. If you don't have A/C you will have to patch a hole. If you have A/C and the donor doesn't you will have to cut the hole.
If you are removing the front clip there is one bolt on each side that is inside the door jam above the hinges near the dash. I just stuck a torch in there and blew it out, but thats kinda sloppy. you may want to remove the doors if you havent already.
