need help bad

I have posted on the differentials forum to no avail, I have torn down my dana 44 on my 77 f150, I went to put in what I thought was the side seals which is the only matching seals in the kit and the new seals are a smaller diameter than the the ones took out right beside the carrier am I missing something or what, I bought the masster ovehaul kit the box says dana 44 masster overhaul kit with side seals but i dont know why they are smaller in the kit than what I took out
thanks

maybe the diff. has been changed over time. got to a local parts store with the old seal if possible. or even take numbers off of it. i spent years in the parts business and sometimes what should be is not what is.

I took my old seal to the parts store today and I was able to get the right seal, $41 worth, I installed the new seals and got my carrier set up today I got .007 backlash and a good pattern, now I have got to take it back apart to have my bearing pressed on, man those setup bearings were worth the money, I just hope nothing moves with the new bearings, thanks for the reply
