I just bought a 03 CC SRW 4X4 6.0 auto trans , and was wanting to put in a gooseneck to pull a couple of jeeps with I had the jeeps and trailer weighted, it's a 31 foot gooseneck, and with the jeeps and adding about 450 lbs for extra gear in the jeeps it came to 12,900 can my truck handle that ? I don't have any type of owners manuals or anything with the truck.
I am slow this morning but what is a "CC"? I see you have SRW, single rear wheels, so I presume this is a F-350? Correct? I have an 05 drw, 6.0, and I pulled my T-180 Bob Cat from Georgia to PA. I weighed everything at a Flying J and had 22,000#. Some big mountains, but no trouble.
The reason for my comments, if you have a F-150, you're gonna be overweight, for sure.
Well, for the record, the tow ratings can be found at the Ford site of course, but you can also get them here at the Trailer Life website. Everything you ever wanted to know about how much you can LEGALLY tow.
Boy, I WAS a sleep last night when I wrote this, I'm sorry I meant to say it's a F250 instead of SRW. I'm not worried about legality part, I'll get the proper plates, as much as if the truck can handle that with out harm. As for the trailer it's a deck over gooseneck. Thanks for the replies.
Looks like it's under the GCWR, I've just seen several post about people pulling loads around 8-9000 having a lot of trouble with the truck, Just don't want to start having a lot of problems.
I pull 8-9000 pounds with a 5.4L and a 3.73 differential without any problems.
Yours should be a cakewalk. Just watch your trailer balance, don't put too much weight up front or in the back, make sure your trailer brakes are up to snuff and don't be in a hurry. Give yourself a lot of time, relax and enjoy the journey.
Thanks, just a little new at pulling this much weight. I've pulled with a half ton and 18 foot trailer with one vehicle for years. The trailer is only three years old with little miles, and been serviced yearly. I'll just take my time and may take a few tries to get the weight were it needs to be.
