My tensioner blew out last night, so I looked here for wisdom. Seems I have a unique tensioner on this rig. Mine is NOT attached by a torx bolt. It's a 12mm hex bolt, and the spring is enclosed in a pot metal casing with one nipple pin on the back. No shock nor bracket. The autozone (Dayco 305236) part number mentioned in previous postings here are different units than I have.
I also looked at the ford part #F4TZ6B209C, and it looks like mine but it's much bigger and the pully/spring casing offset is quite different.
Hi guys.. any help is very much appreciated. my new dayco tensioner (89236) came off. the bolt that holds the tensioner snapped. half came off, half still there. looking at the bolt it looks like it's made of ****ty metal. it just can't snap like that. i had to replace the tensioner (same model) a month ago because the both tensioner and idler pulley needed to be replaced. installed the new part, bought a new belt dayco 115.. sameone that was on before. i didn't tight the tensioner exactly to 60 newton meters but i stopped when i felt the bolt was tight before. after everything was running better, no more squeling and the alternator was charghing the battery more efficently. so right now i would love to know why the tensioner snapped? factory default? or the bolt was too tight? i have looked at many types of tensioners... which brand do you suggest?
