Quick question, which aftermarket air filter provides the most airflow in a stock intake??
I found that alot of my smoke problem was the air filter, (brand new) I pulled it out and drove to work today and could not believe the differance, so I want to upgrade to a more free flowing filter,
I will be doing a intake mod soon but right now it is all stock.
you can get a k&n filter for our trucks but if your in dusty conditions then that will not be your best option. did you drive it with no filter on it if so thats not a good idea. i always use regular stock filters and never have a problem.

I know it isn't a good idea to drive without a filter, but you can't find out if the filter is the problem without testing without it.
I buy Motorcraft filter from the stealership, check out the amount of paper filter surface area on a Ford filter compared to aftermarket ones. Then you will know which one will allow more air to pass with maximum filtration! IMO anyway its worth the extra money, and lasts longer between changes.
AFE Does make a factory replacement filter for our trucks. I don't have the part handy. It cost me about $50. I read a lot of post here and other places...and with out restarting the K&N fight, I decided that the AFE was a better choice for my truck. I also removed the factory "snorkel" and and made my own. I think there is a picture in my gallery.
