my turn signal switch is causing my breaklights to alternate. it has a rivet to hold it in place how can i pull it to fix it or better yet replace it thnaks
I don't mean to sound ignorant, but I have a 73 SWB and I don't recall ever seeing a rivet any where on my truck....Could you be a little more specific with your problem?
Doc
When yout pull the steering wheel off there your turn signal switch. the white C shaped thing. it's held on with a rivet. i don't know if i should drill it out because the contacts on the switch arent connecting right. is there any way to clean them without removing the switch. this problem is causing my breaklights to alternate back and forth so i have to wiggle the lever to make sure that it is in neutral before i step on the brakes
after i turn my signal on i have to wiggle the lever to make sure that the switch is in neutral or when i hit the brakes it cancels out the side i turned my signal to before. so when i step on the brake one light works. turn signals are just an interupted brake light right. well after i turn it of it must still be interrupted because then it doesn't want to work so how can i fix this problem?
I've seen it happen before with turn signal switches. What happens is the last light used is the one that doesn't work, so say I had used it for a left turn, the left tail light does not work for the brakes. Replace the switch, and all is good.
Replace switch. I had a similiar problem with left side brake light not working and that fixed it. I had a spare out of another coulmn so it didn't cost me anything.
