I am currentlly upgrading my 1979 ford F-150. I installed a 460 with headers, Elderbrock RPM intake, geardrive, and mild cam. I also installed Dana 60 axles with Leafs to replace the old springed dana44 and rear 9". What a tough job! Today I installed the C-6 tranny and put a 3" inch wide hole right through the bellhousing, "the trans.came from a donor truck I purchased" little did I know the people that had the truck before me left a broken chunck of a previous starer in the bellhousing when I was fighting the trans to get it in the truck the piece must have fell down behind the torqe converter in a 6 o"clock posistion, when I tightened the bolts up I heard a crack, "saw a big hole with a piece of aluminum hanging out of it that had a bronze bushing in it" at first I though it was a part of the trans. but it wasnt it was a piece of a old starter AARRRRRR!! I guess I'll get my JB Weld out and replace the pieces and glue em back in just to keep out debries, I guess at least the trans is still good and useable but what a Bummer and I guess it could have been worse, I could have ended up getting it together and not knowing it was in there and it coulda got jammed in there somewhere at 60MPH who knows what it wouda done then. I think anytime I install a auto trans again I am going to remove the torq converter to just take a look but to late now.
