Hey guys!
I'm looking to get out of my 150 and into a 250. I saw what was advertised as an '04 F250, but the guy selling wasn't 100% certain.
So, on an F250, how do I tell the difference between years?
Thank!
The Mirrors. (grantted that they are infact the Trailer tow mirror) Ii it has the turn signal lamps on the mirrors then its an 04 and up. Also you could look at the vin sticker.

Yep, check the vin to know for sure. Also, anything built in late 03 will probably be considered an 04 model. If you're looking at one with the 6.0 diesel, take the vin to a Ford dealer and ask them to run an oasis report for you. Some of the early 6.0's had a bunch of problems. 6.0 production started mid 2003.
Thanks for the heads-up, guys. I'll check it out tomorrow when I go look again. Seems like a good deal if I can bargain on price...04? F250, 6500 miles, 5.4, clean in and out, asking $23,900 at a local used lot.

I don't tihnk that is that great of a deal. i'd say jew them down to an even 23K but no more. Not for that find of milage. my 03 i bought had 42K on it and i picked her up for $20,000 and its a Crew-cab Sport

6500 miles, not 65000. Supposedly the owner fell ill after buying the truck and couldn't use it much.
Well, I have an 03 CC with the 5.4L. I wouldn't use any of the stuff on the truck as a guide. Mine came with just the regular mirrors, and I now have the tow mirrors, other people have made lots of mods. But the VIN doesn't (shouldn't) lie.
Now, that is some great mileage on that, no doubt. I still think you can get 'em down fairly considerably. I got mine with 29,000 miles on it 2 years ago (so the truck would have been barely 2 years old) for $21,000. Of course, you also didn't say if it was an XL (doubtful), XLT, Lariet, or King Ranch. That could have a huge factor on the pricing. Sometimes the toys on it is what sells it!
Letting a truck sit is the worst thing you can do to a truck. I wouldn't touch that truck. Find one that has reasonable miles on it or you are just asking for troubles.
its pretty much the same truck... doesn't the tag on the drivers door say when it was built? granted, that won't tell you if its the 2003 or 2004 model year...
