I need a little help deciding which one to get. Tri Fold vs. Roll Up. There's a lot that I've seen on www.stylinconcepts.com and a lot of them fit my budget. Can you guys tell me what factors you took into consideration for choosing your tonneau cover? Any opions are greatly appreciated...
That is what i went with because it seemed to offer the most flexibility. You can unsnap any part, open it at the hinge like a hard top, roll it up, or pull a couple pins on the struts then unsnap the front and lift if off in one piece.
The only downside is that it has virtually no security - anyone could just unsnap it or cut a hole through the vinyl and get inside. But at least any goods are out of site.
I would suggest the Torza Tri-Fold, I think one of the best out there. But if you're looking to save some money, you could go for the Lund Hinged or Tri-Fold. Try this link if you're interested: http://www.buyautotruckaccessories.c...gid.101001006/
definite tri-fold. i have had a couple roll ups and the tri-fold i have now i love compared to them. everyone asks about it because they havent seen them, and i know a couple people buying them after seeing me use mine. i have the extang trifecta, there are about 3 or 4 brands that are very similar for the tri-folds.
yea, i love it. i think it was about 300? i also noticed the fuel economy right away. i made a 700 mile vacation trip down to north carolina right after getting it, and clocked over 21mpg, with only mods being that and the flowmaster exhaust. the reason i chose the extang was because of the wing nuts on the front clamps. they take a couple seconds longer to get on and off, but on the highway when its folded open, i trust that those wingnuts are tight and going to hold it on there. they do come in a really big box if you have it shipped, so be prepared. its just folded in thirds, and the box is about 6 inches bigger in all directions.
I have the hard top roll-up style tonneau by Pace Edwards. I like this style because it simply rolls up and out of the way without having to undo snaps, or whatever else fastens other styles down. It also allows one to open the tailgate without having to open the tonneau first. ARE hardtops need to be opened first before you can open the tailgate. I often need access to the back but don't need to open the tonneau to get what I want back there:
How water tight is the PE top? I've been looking at this model as it allows me to transport my ATV, lawn mower, etc without the hassle of a hard tonneau.
i found a local place in Arizona that sells roll up covers. looking at their site makes me wanna change my mind from tri-fold to roll up. they even have a video that shows how simple the install is. http://www.agricover.com/index.php

A little water seems to seep down at the front (closest to the cab), but very little, and the water that does seep in simply flows in between the ribs of the bed liner (there's so little it's negligible anyway) so anything important that I have stored in the bed still stays dry. At the back, as can be seen by the dust in the corners where the tailgate closes, some water and road dust gets in, but that has nothing to do with the cover itself. All trucks do that to a degree.
In the winter after a heavy snowfall I simply take a long handled broom and push the snow right off. I'm quite happy with the cover and it locks up tight.
Actually I do have one beef. If the cover isn't locked with the key, sometimes when traveling down the road, mainly on the highway, the cover will start rolling up on it's own, so I always keep it locked.
One more thing is you'll lose a little bed space due to the box that encases the rollup mechanism and tonneau itself which is closest to the cab.

Thanks for the review on the P-E you have. I think I might have to just go get one.
