I may be wrong, but i thought i have seen a couple of numbers on the drivers side frame rail about 12 inches to the right of the shock?
anyway, would these locations be the same on a 68? my truck is totally stock and original so i can check this out, but i would like to know where to start looking.

William, Check it out, it will only cost you a couple of minutes of your time, no money. The passenger side rail could still be the go to place, I don't know about the newer trucks.
NOTE: Ford stamped the frame part number prefix & suffix on the frames from 1957 thru 1972. These numbers are stamped either on the right or left outside frame rail in front of the crossmember. The part number prefix/suffix may be upside down. Sample: C5TA-AA
If the truck was built in San Jose, CA. (5th digit in VIN is: R) The VIN may be stamped on the crossmember, directly below the vibration damper. It's there on my San Jose built 1965 F100.
thanks numberdummy, i thought i have seen vins on the drivers side before. i never really thought about looking on my truck since i know its all original. when i get my truck out i will look around and see where it is and post in this thread what i find out.

I believe Bill posted Frame Part numbers, not VIN on drivers side.
