I'm in the same boat with finding parts for my 79. A place to try is LMC truck, in kansas. They'll send you a free catalog, I have bought a few things from them and have had good luck.
You can get the catalog at www.lmctruck.com

I believe you need the steering coupler. It's easy to find, and is still available from Ford. If the entire steering coupler was missing you wouldn't have any steering control. You prolly have a steering coupler that is coming apart, and is missing parts of the rubber isloator.

DRIVING THE TRUCK IN THIS CONDITION IS VERY DANGEROUS TO YOU AND OTHER MOTORISTS.

If the coupler breaks apart, you will have NO steering control!!

C9UZ-3A525-A Steering Coupler

Fits all 1973/74 F100/350 2WD; and 1975 F100/350 2WD with M/S. (also fits 1969/72 F100/350 2WD)

no it's not a steering coupler...it is a peice that is very small and is square and fits on the bottom of the steering shaft...it almost looks like this....just click on the link to see my artistic paint abilities

The end of the steering shaft where it bolts to the coupler has a circular flange that is wavy, with 2 bolt holes, and 2 notches. I see nothing that matches your description. Above the flange is the gear shift selector lever(s). Are you sure the part you need isn't part of the (broken) coupler? The coupler bolts to the flange, the other end is splined where it attaches to the input shaft.

There's nothing else, because the flange is part of the steering shaft. Turn the wheel, the shaft turns the coupler, which in turn, turns the steering gear input shaft. What else is there? Nothing.

Whoa!

WARN HUBS?

This is a 4WD !!

You made no mention of this.
I have a 1973 F100 with manual steering.
No wonder my hair is turning gray!

Didn't you see where I posted the steering coupler part number and stated 2WD??

A 4WD uses an entirely different steering set up.

btw = It's Friday the 13th...

Sorry my bad i just added that to my signature, i should have included that originally huh...sorry...but yeah it is a manual steering, manual tranny, manual everything, even brakes...4 drums and the whole ball of wax...but that's a different story....that peice that i need is very vital to the steering stability.

He's talking about the lower/front steering shaft u-joint - the one that connects to the steering box.

I remember it oh-so-well...

It's not a "u-joint" per se, but close enough of a description.

C6TZ-3C668-A Steering Column Shaft U-Joint Bearing (uses 2 per vehicle)

Fits: 1966 F100 4X4; 1967/77 F100/150/250 4X4.

Part is obsolete.

FTE sponsor Green Sales doesn't have any, but you might contact them anyway, because they are on a national obsolete parts network.

Green Sales, Cincinnati, Ohio = 800-543-4959. Maybe they can find them for you. Call them....give them the part number.

Dennis, thank you for posting the illustration.

Broken40, unless someplace like LMC has the part (I doubt it), I think you're going to be buying a new steering shaft.
