I recall seeing mention of a replacement oil pan drain valve which lets you turn the flow on and off, and even connect a tube to drain the oil into any container. I can't recall the brand name of the device, and can't find the part on the list of web sites from our sponsors. Will someone please mention the brand and where to order the part from?
Thanks
Warren
I have the one with the hose fitting on it. While handy for samples and not having to remove a plug it does make the oil changes a little slower as it is a little restrictive. I still like mine though.
it is a little slow.. but doable and a lot cleaner..I crawl under my truck with a pan. cordless drill with a 1/8 inch bit and a grease gun..I set pan under both drain valve and oil fitter..open valve. drill hole in bottom of filter. grease both drive shafts and front end..close valve.. pull already empty filter..fill new filter and put it on and fill from top..1/2 hour my oil is changed and my truck is greased...
Man, doesn't oil get all over your drill when you drill the filter? I just take a 'lady finger' and a hammer and tap a hole in mine. Draining the filter B 4 you remove it is the way to go!!

nope..nice sharp drill bit..drill into from side of filter right at very bottom.not up into..soon as it pokes through pull it out..mabey half the bit gets oil on it...
Here's another tip you can use instead of either punching or drilling a hole.
1. Get a 2-gallon zip lock bag
2. Place the bag around the filter up to the top
3. Unscrew the filter
*note* any spillage stays in the bag and your hands don't get covered either
4. Pour the filter into the catch pan where the engine is draining
5. Zip closed the zip lock bag
6. Toss the bagged filter in the trash.
