Put Original Air cleaner back

I had this in the wrong thread & copied it to here.

I recently bought an '05 King Ranch F350 PSD. It has a Bully dog conical air filter installed. It "turbo farts" a lot. In a previous querry many members recommended to put the original filter back. I want to do that. Does anyone have one for sale? Or the best place to buy one?

Also, a friend of mine has a Diablo predator (on a Cummins though) swears by it & says he gets much better milage with it. I'm getting 9-10 mpg pulling a 5k # Travel trailer & 11-12mpg around town empty.I'm not a heavy foot. I would appreciate any comments pro or con about it before I get serious about buying one.

One last thing- the truck came from Texas & does not have a block heater. I would like to install one before winter hits. How hard is the installation & where is the best place to buy one.

Thanks ahead for your help

Jetmx,

For a factory air intake assembly, i am guessing you need the two hoses as well as the filter. Cheapest is usually ebay or a local salvage yard.

As far as a performance module, remember what works on a Cummins does not neccessarily work on a 6.0 and vice a versa. The hands down favorite performance module for the 6.0 is the SCT XcalII with Custom Tunes from Matt at Spartan Diesel Technologies or Eric at Innovative Diesel.

Are you talking about the "Dr P Predator" inline module or the "Diablosport Predator" flash tuner?

Here is a link from the 6.0 Tech folder on installing the engine block heater. Generally the cheapest place to purchase the part has been the local IH dealer but also check the online Ford parts vendors here on FTE.

Hope this helps

I always see this guy trying to sell one on Craigs List, San Diego! http://sandiego.craigslist.org/pts/370253657.html
It's a great deal at $25.00 + wherever you have to ship it to.

Thanks for the info guys. It is invaluable info.

Black hat- I think it's the Diablosport Predator that plugs into the OBD II plug. I was reading the tuner chip thread & thought I saw some negatives on the SCT XcalII . Where can I get more info on it?

The block heater info was exactly what I was looking for- Thanks

OZX3+1- I called on the air filter unit on craigs list. He's sending it today & letting me pay for it after he gets the shipping $$. Exactly what I was looking for.

This club is great! Hope I can help members someday like you guys helped me. Many thanks again.

If it is the Diablosport Predator Flash Tuner, a few people have had good luck with it on the 6.0. However, there have been alot of people that have had engine and especially transmission issues with it.

The SCT XcalII with "Custom Tunes" from Matt at Sparten Diesel Technologies or Eric at Innovative Diesel is the tuner and tune writers of choice.

The advantage of the SCT XcalII and either Matt or Eric's tunes is that they write the program specifically for your truck, load and driving style. And if in the future your needs/wants change it is easy for them to write you a new program and email it to you.

The Diablosport Predator Flash Tuner has the ability to be custom tuned, but the 6.0 support and tune writers appears to be very low.

Do a search in the 6.0 section of the forum for SCT XcalII and Diablosport Predator. There is a ton of information on these already posted there. Also you can call Matt or Eric and talk to them for more information. Read and ask questions then choose what is the best option for you.

One other thing the 6.0 unlike alot of other previous engines is very sensitive to changes if they are not done correctly do to the level of computer control for the engine & transmission and also do to the fact of the installed emissions control devices. An improperly modified 6.0 can lift the heads and trash the Torqueshift in a hurry.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info & advice I'll do more research. Is there a website for Sparten or Innovative diesel?

Thanks for the contact. I'll give him a call. Would you have any pics of his installations, or know of any one that might ?
