WIll the installation of a Diablo chip in a 5.4L SuperCrew take the place of a FMU on a Supercharger? I think I have my terms right... WIll the chip in turn allow the right amount of gas instead of using a seperate fuel management system?
You'll still need the FMU, as boost
pressure increases, it needs more fuel
and the FMU will auotmatically do that.
The FMU uses manifold pressure to
control the fuel pressure...

not a big deal.
When you order the chip, you tell them what your engine modifications are.
They will then provide you a chip programmed with the correct parameters for your situation.
If you buy a chip before adding a turbo, then you add a turbo, then you'll need to get a different program. There are other factors involved besides fuel management, for example, ignition timing and advance under boost is a critical item and it needs to be right.
Ok, I'm a little relieved now... I bought a Diablo chip a month ago and now I'm really interested in a supercharger, but don't want to forfeit the chip.
Thanks for your help. BTW I know opinions vary on different superchargers, but what is everyone's pick for a good supercharger kit? I have a (SuperCrew 5.4L 4X4) I don't really want to spend over $3500 either.
Also, one more question... When all these mods are done to increase the amount of air that goes into the engine, and consequently increases performance; wouldn't you have to change the mass airflow sensor in order for the extra mods to matter?

Welcome to the wonderful world of electronic mods...
More than likely, you'll need to upgrade both. But that
depends on how much boost you're after. You'll probably
need to talk to the chip-burner, and the blower manuf.
to find out for sure. But I'd say, from experience, that
you'll definitely need a recalibrated, larger MAS...

dont use the chip unless its been burned with the blower in mind. and i wouldnt eliminate the fmu unless you have it dyno tuned without it. this is the only real safe way. and better if done right.
