Tranny Temp????

Wondering if you can put a tranny gauge on a 6-speed or is it not really needed, if you can put it on can someone give some advice on how to do so.
Thanx

I have one installed on my '00. I have it installed where you fill and check your fluid. This not the best place cause you do not get the best reading for your fluid tem but if you go onto www.itpdiesel.com they sell a PTO cover with a port for your tranny sending unit. Or you can drain your fluid, remove the PYO cover on the left side and drill and tap for your sending unit. If you hual you might want to get a tranny cooler from www.dieselsite.com. I plain on getting the cooler since I do some haul and just want to preserve my tranny.

Too answer if you need it?? I would say yes, if you haul then yes. When my front bearing where going out, I noticed a decrease in fuel economy and my tranny temp rose well above 150. When I tow it always hangs around 140 to 150, even thru the mountain passes, must of the time just driving around it will sit about 100-110 or so. To be safe never hurt and can save you in the long run. Hope this helps!! IMO!!
