AnyBody know of a better rear main seal installer for the 7.3L idis then the stupid plastic one ford and ihc give you with the seal??? Any help appericated Josh.
I had a tool machined out of aluminum that is just slightly smaller than the seals O.D. and bigger than the I.D. then I had the inner portion recessed just enough so that when the seal was flush the installer would stop on the back of the crank. Cost me about 20 bucks for the chunk of aluminum and a case of beer to have it machined by a friend with a lathe.
Thanks guys, ford yesterday let me borrow there otc diesel kit however it was for the 7.3L powerstrokes. I went back today and got the right one which they probably havent had to use in ten years lol. I just didnt fell to good about how the seal went in and im tired of playing with this engine. The installer is an "OTC T83T-6701-A" they still had it in the computer from what the parts manager told me i dont know if it is avalible however maybe that number will help someone down the road get one as well. It does install the sleeve and seal together.
