Yes it depends on state. In Pa and other states I lived you could run 2 cats. Recently they are starting to hassle people that did away with y-pipe. So I'd just check local laws , Go to a shop in the hills and put it on. I just run hiflo cats less hassle. Fed laws and all.As I do have to have state inspections.
AS for grand father clause , The older truck/car here don't need to be sniffed but have to have cats for State inspection . Its like that in other states I lived also.
