well ford has agreed to paint the box on are truck but they arent going to pay for the plastic side rails and apperently they break when u take them off so we priced them out and they are 250$ a peice i dont no aboput u but the in the biggest joke ever
Hell for $250 a piece, you can buy a tube of 3M 5200 polyurethane adhesive and have $485 left over. Or you can spray the whole bed with bedliner for that much!
You should be able to get aftermarket bed rails much cheaper than that. I got my diamond plate Dee Zee ones for under $100 for the pair. Someone said that they are made to go over the plastic ones, but I haven't verified that yet. I'm sure there is a way to get them to work without if they are though.
1stfordparts.com has them for $90 each side before shipping. MSRP is $125 each or $250 for the pair. Your dealer should give you a better cost than that. Even at $90 each there is still profit made on them.
If they are repainting the truck then they agree there was a problem with the original paint job. How can they say they will paint the truck but not replace anything that is damaged during the process?

What makes you think they will break when they are removed, that it not a given. I have removed mine before and they did not break. Just have to be carefully and they snapped back on perfectlly.
ya thats wat we thought so we r probably gouing to go with aftermarket ones
Is FORD painting the exterior of the bed?
I would def go to a LINE-X dealer and have them spray the interior and up and over the stock bed rail and little over it, even to that high bed body line.
Those bed rail covers are nice, but I think LINE-X is better and with a lifetime warranty, will outlast those stock rails!!!!
LINE-X will probably run about $500 or more if they go over the rail http://www2.line-x.com/ns/bedliners.html

I have also removed mine without damage. If you take your time and have a helper squeeze the clips from the under side with a pliers they should come off fine.
I had to replace the right bed side on my '08 and the body shop removed the plastic bed rail and reinstalled it and it looks fine to me. Maybe the plastic gets brittle with time, my truck was only a month old (from date of manufacture) when it was in the shop.
