I'm guessing here but HD brakes is probably referring to dual piston calipers, pretty easy to tell if you look at the inside of the tires. Can't help you with the E code, is th BOM still on the Axle?
E (1976 only * ) = 3000 lb front axle capacity with power steering.
The parts catalog on CD was scanned from a very early printing, and is missing pertinent info. I'm using the latest actual Ford microfiche slides dated 10/88.
*There is a different E code used in 1979.

F25MKC55274
axle code C7E
Tranny A
WB 155
GVWR 8100
F25 = F250 2WD
M = 390 4V
K = Kansas City Assembly Plant
C55274 = 1976
Trans A = New Process 435 4 Speed
155" Wheelbase
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating = 8100 lbs.
It's not a "Super Camper" Special, because those were only built on a 140" wheelbase. Only the Super Campers came standard with the Super Cooling radiator, Camper Specials had the extra cooling radiator. The Super Cooling radiator was optional. The core support IS different when the Super Cooling radiator was factory installed.
ALL 1976 and later F250 2WD's from serial number A75,001 have dual piston calipers.
What is the DSO code listed on the VIN plate?

could the dual tanks be a dealer installed option?
Not much of a chance of that...first off, the quarter panel is different. Not saying it couldn't be done, but from personal experience, I doubt any dealer would tackle that. Major reason, the cost factor to the customer. The price back then would have been at least $1500.00, about a fourth of what the truck cost new.
