My daughter is off to college next year.. Of my 3 kids, she is my "over-achiever" with lots of accomplishments and honors. (proud Daddy that I am) Her H.S. grad party is at my home this weekend.. I am looking for any clever ideas to help make the day as special for her asI can..
I am doing a photo board of pics from her childhood thru current time... Any other suggestions? (and dont tell me to give her money.. she is going to cost me a small fortune for the next 4 - 5 yrs! lol)
Buy her an authentic designer handbag. I hear college bound girls are really big into them these days. Not too many young people can afford them. Something like a Chanel, Chloe, Fendi or Gucci bag can go for a thousand and more. Just make sure it's real. You'll be a hero.
Don't laugh guys. It's a chic thing. I grew up being a tomboy and I still splurge at least once a year on a nice bag.
I knew you guys would be outraged.
How much are the powertools you got?
Anyways, I usually recoop some of the $$ I spend. Say a $1200 bag, I can resell it for about $600-800 after a year when I get bored with it.
My neighbor made a really cool scrapbook for her son that was a high school grad this year. She put in all kinds of newspaper clippings of him, sports photos, dance photos. It was really neat!
They had a big party and rented a huge tent, tables and chairs. This mom even made all the food to feed everyone. She also set up a table for gifts, but included a box for cards to be dropped into. Of course there was wine and beer (with a note attached that you must be 21 or older to consume) as well as pop and water.
It was a huge success. They set up a badminton net and aslo had a game kind of like Toss-Across. Everyone had a great time.
If you are having a party for your daughter I would definitely set out a table displaying all of her school achievements.
Burn a bunch of pictures of her throughout different stages on a data CD and play them in the DVD Player during the party. It makes for a nice slide show. It makes for a nice ice breaker when everyone is out of things to say and is better than passing around a photo album!
As far as a nice gift ~ sorry Robin ~ I would never spend 100 bucks on a bag let alone a grand! I have two kids in college right now and I think the laptop would be more practical as she will need it for her college work. I'm all for giving my kids everything they need, but the spendy, glamour items are up for them to buy later with the money they'll earn from the nice education they're getting! Just my two cents!
You can get her a designer chastity belt. It's practical and thoughtful. Thats what I am getting daughter thats going off to college this fall. I know it's not for her. It's for all the drunkn college hormones walking around campus.
I would spend 1000+ on a bag!!!! If it was wraped around my ex in the morgue. Then it would be meaningful!
I like snowbunnies idea.

We got our son a laptop when he gradeated a couple years back. We did the same thing with pictures too. He and his cousin graduated together so we had a yee haa at the sister in laws place. Made up poster boards of the kids when they were knee high to nothin on up to graduation time. Really neat and uhh, I uhh, had to step outside a time or two to let the desert air dry my eyes more than once.

I would have chosen the laptop too.
My powertools make me money. Can your bag do that? Get her a laptop.
