How safe is the superduty in a crash? It may be a dumb question since it is so big and heavy but im just wondering how big they are or if anyone has some pictures of a superduty in a wreck.
My neighbor owns an auto body shop, and he say's all ford trucks will take a beating better than any other truck. He say's they are easier to fix as well. Funny thing though, he drives a chebby.
I feel pretty safe in my F350. I'll bet I weigh more that 85% of the vehicles on the road. JMO
well I'm a paramedic / supervisor and needless to say I've seen a lot of wrecks. Unless the driver / passenger was t-boned by an even bigger vehicle at high speed, the Superduty has faired well in every collision I've seen. Even rollovers. Now unfortunately I've also seen the damage a Superduty can do to another vehicle, up to and including killing the occupants of smaller cars. Needless to say, our beasts can take a lot of damage, but they inflict it as well.

I agree, every super duty I have seen in an accident the other vehicle took the beating. I saw one about a month ago where the camry that was hit looked like a 2 seater and the F-250 didnt look scathed. The only thing I worry about is hurting someone else. You definately get a feeling of safety driving one of these.
We were rear ended in our '99 F-250 last summer by a drunk driving an '02 F-250. Damage to mine was limited to the left rear quarter panel, tail gate and bumper. I cannot remember what the repair costs were on mine, around $2800 I think. The total for both trucks was around $7500. This guy got mad and hit us on purpose because "we stopped in the middle of the road for no reason". Those were his words. We stopped for a STOP SIGN.

Hey, I'm from out of state and out of country (where we have real traffic laws) and I have seen that barely anyone obeys the stop signs here! If you see somebody stop, it means that person is obviously a "turist" or a new driver in the road test!
As I teached my wife just recently to drive, we ended many times into situation that idiots honked and gave us the middle finger because we stopped into stop sign! Many of them were young ladies!!! Not too many but more honks than I have ever heard in my life in the "civilized world" (Not counting China, Brazil etc.)
I just wish I had my truck when somebody did that, you know switch to R and give them little taste from the Ranch Hand Heavy Duty bumber And then blaim them rear ending...
We had to use my Audi for the training because the F250 did not fit between into the parallel parking test poles Otherwise she liked driving the truck because it was so easy to see everything around and you were like "more equal" than the other drivers in their rice cans. And she said "you can hear the engine when it's running" hmm... So she was meaning, you don't accidentally over speed, I guess?
But while driving my truck, no-one is honking at me, wonder why?
Other thing makes me mad here in Texas is that many drivers changes the lanes in the middle of the crossings, that's deadly specially when they don't watch over the shoulder. That's the point you need the air horns, just waiting to put some in.
Happened to be invited to a "class" to avoid insurance points. The instructor must have given us 4 or 5 examples of auto accident deaths that involved F250 and F350 trucks. The occupants of the F's walked away. The rest, not so lucky.
Yes, he purposely hit us. He said so when he got out and wanted to fight, all 140 pounds of him. I am 6' and 260#s. Trust me, I punished him a little before my then 17 year old daughter pulled me off of him while she was calling the police. When the first police officer got there I had him pinned against his truck and I had taken his keys. He told me to let him go and I did. The officer interviewed him first and during the course of the interview it was quite apparent that he was drunk so they gave him the field sobriety test and then told him to turn around and put his hands behind his back. At that point he got really aggravated and started running his mouth and waving his arms around. Bad move. The officer stepped back, called for back up and in about a minute there were several more police officers and state troopers there. They were not gentle taking him into custody. It was quite fun to watch. They charged him with felony drunken driving, felony child endangerment (six counts, one for each kid in the truck) and resisting arrest. All of this happened less than a mile from our house.
