Does this situation sound familar? My windows will intermitently fail to go up. Seems like they always go down, but occassionally, for no apparent reason, I can't get them to go up. I will repeatedly mash the "up" button and turn the ignition off and on, and no luck. Then, all of a sudden, the window goes up. I have been observing this situation for several months trying to pattern the problem, but I can't seem to identify a pattern. However, the problem has become more troublesome of late, as the frequency has increased.
Does anything about this sound familar? Any suggestions on how to repair or troubleshoot would be appreciated.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Aug-02 AT 08:31 PM (EST)]I've had this problem in the past when the buttons are mounted on the armrest. Dirt and stuff seems to get down in the switch and causes it to be intermitent. I have sometimes blown into it with an air hose to get it to work, sometimes have to pull the switch.
I should have added the following. The windows affected are fronts and rears, and it does not matter which buttons I use. For example, if I reach back and hit the rear window button, it still won't go up. Likewise if i reach across the truck and hit the passenger button. Still won't work.
Situation is now worse. Three of my four windows are stuck down and I can't get them up. As indicated above, I could usually get them to go up but no longer. I really don't think this is a switch issue b/c like i said, I can hit one of any of the other three window switches and nothing happens. I have checked the owners manual relating to switches/windows, etc. and could not find anything window specific.
