Hey guys i just got another highboy but no motor. Ive gota good 390 and the guy left the 428 flywheel in the truck. So my question is will the auto flywheel off a 428 work on my 390?
Thanks guys for the info. The donor truck has a new clutch kit and all that so ill prolly jsut swap in the 4spd while im at it. Not the first time ive done the auto to standard conversion. Just dont have time to search for parts or have any work done.
Yes if you take the welded on balance weight off then have it neutral balanced.
It's worth more to a 428 person but you must know which weight it has for the application. I recall 11 and 13 tooth count long weight differences.
This weight can be welded on a 390 plate if you index the position as 428 plates cost more than 390 plates.
Even a wasted 428 plate is a keeper to use to locate the weight position then transfer to a 390 plate.
