I haven't scoped out the issue to much, as I don't want to try something w/o seeing if anyone on here has done it as then they can lead me in the right direction.
I have an 00 EB with the Mach system. I believe it is the 300. The sub in the back on the passenger side in the wall is an 8" correct? I have a 10" sub just sitting around. Is it worth trying to figure out a way to put the 10" where the 8 used to be, or should i just go buy a better 8" sub?
Not expecting this to slam, but since I listen to a variety of music, I'd like to have some thump for some stuff.
If you can do all the work yourself, then maybe you could do it like that. A reputable shop here in my area coulda done it but it woulda cost a MINT. It was cheaper to buy a Kicker L5 sub with amp, wires, and have it installed (~500 total) then it would have been to have them make just an enclosure for that space. Not to mention then add the cost of a subwoofer on that (which you have).
Don't put a aftermarket 8" sub in the OEM enclosure. It won't sound good. If you want to keep it stealth, JL and MTX both make enclosures that will fit in the location of the factory sub/enclosure. I have head the JL sounds nice, but it's $500 + just for the box/sub, no amp. The MTX is a single 10" which might be good enough for you.
Now if you want to put a box out in the open, in the cargo area, then ideas are limitless. I put a 13kv.2 Elemental Designs sub($125) in a ported box with 300 watts going to it and it was insane. Tight, low, clear and would rattle your vision. But, I had no cargo space left over....
