Since I added the following to my F-550 Custom Hauler, needed someplace to locate. I built a custom console to hold the following:
LCD for Camera on rear of bed and camera on rear of trailer
Air Pressure gauge for Siege train horns/tank
Fuel gauge for on deck aluminum auxilary tank
Voltmeter for main truck system
Voltmeter for auxilary battery system
Backup Sensor LED
IPod jack
Switches for all extra lighting
Other than some finishing screws (temp ones in pictures) and rubber molding (around edge of plate), my console is almost finished. I made a mock up out of plywood and used for awhile to see how it would work. Then built the real one out of Black Walnut. I think it is turning out pretty nice... Here is some pictures on my site...
Damn that looks factory! Great work all around on the whole truck- one day you're gonna sell that truck and cry because of all the work you put into it!
I appreciate all the comments on the console. You know that ours trucks are an extension of what kind of person we are. I try to take pride in any thing I tackle. Sometimes the results are not as good as I like but still, when you are finished, there is a great sense of accomplishment. I have been working on this rig since last Christmas. Even built the bed before I took posession of the new truck in late January. I am almost to the point of being somewhat finished customizing. I am 54 years young and hopefully this truck will be with me from now on. We carry the two large Bombardier four wheelers and haul a 34' Airstream behind. THis rig is the best setup I have ever owned to do that task. And as everyone that has jumped out there and bought a new 2008, everyone seems to be overwhelmed with the truck. It is not the faster Super Duty I have owned but it is the best tow vehicle I have ever driven or owned. We just made a two week trip from Katy, Texas to Butte, Montana in May. In September we will be off to our normal Colorado vacation and on to Montana again. One thing for sure, this rig will be used for traveling. Finally in my life I can afford all the toys I want and take off and enjoy. It is also nice to have the 550 for just RV'ing around the country. I don't really drive it around town. I have a 425 RWHP 2003 Cobra to do that with....
Anyway, thanks again....
I have a 2006 F350 CC with the captains seats, and have been looking for something exactly like what you made. I've had no luck finding any or any custom car places that would make one.
I don't need it to hold any electronics like you have on yours - I; just looking for something with a deep tray (say three inches deeo) on top, and maybe have the tray somehow flip up (or a latch opening on the sides) so that I can store stuff inside it too.
I had an Expedition before the f350 that had a console that went all of the way to the dashboard and had this type of tray set up, so I'm used to that and miss it in the F350.
Do you ever do contract work? Could I hire you to make one for me?
Seville09,
Make me a sketch of what you are looking for and I will consider it. Send it to my sales@ccb-design.com. I am looking at getting some red oak from a family friend. I don't know if I have enough Walnut left to build another one. The color on the Walnut really matches the truck's rosewood around the cab... The wife said I should make a couple of them for people who like the looks of it... Do you have an 08? The dash is different on earlier models like my 2000 F-350....
thanks
