98 Nascar Truck
Ok Guys, I'm New To Fords And To This Forum. I Am Trading A Chevy P/u For A 98 F150 Nascar. I Have A Few Questions Before I Do.
Whats The Difference Between The Nascar And A Regular F150
Also When You Put The Truck In Drive. You Have To Feather The Throttle For It To Go. You Only Have To Do It When You First Shift Or When You Go From Reverse To Drive. At Lights It Will Go And Go Fast. Any Idea Why This Happens? Any Help Will Be Great.
Thank You, Vinnie James

not sure about your problems.
Aside from the obvious wheels and graphics etc., I believe the Nascar edition has the lightning brakes. It also lowered an inch or so, not sure if it's the L suspension. If you ever need anything for the suspension or brakes, make sure you specify. I think it has different control arms (for the brakes) like the Lightning and other models have.
I might be mistaken on the above, someone should be able to verify.

Welcome to FTE Vinnie.
Sounds like a IAC problem. Try removing the Idle Air Control valve and cleaning it with some throttle body cleaner. If that helps, then it will likely only be a temporary fix. Replace the IAC with a new one. Good luck!

Here is the specifics on the NASCAR truck:
1998 F-150 regular cab, short box, 2 wheel drive
4.6L V8 engine (stock F-150 engine) with FOU1 computer code
Black paint with special NASCAR graphics on the box sides and tailgate
Grey interior with NASCAR embroidery on the seat backs and floor mats
Special mesh grill
Goodyear A/S tires with yellow-lettering
Special 16" x 7" 10-spoke black aluminum wheels
The truck was lowered 1 inch
Dual stainless steel Roush exhaust tips
Roush front air dam
3.73:1 rear axle ratio
There was 3000 total built, about half automatics and half 5 speed manuals. Few other options were available, tonneau cover (about 600 with this option), sliding rear window, AM/FM/CD stero. Mine is a 5-speed model.

Digdoug1 Thanks For The Info
Well Mine Has A Tonneau Cover, sliding Back Window,cd Player, nascar Seats And Floor Mats, And A Automatic Transmission With Problems. No Nascar Stickers, yellow Lettered Tires Or Tips.
It Does Have Air Ride Suspension, custom Fuel Cell, billet Grill, Cowl Hood And An After Market Intake. The After Market Fuel Pump Went On Me The Other Day. I Guess Things Like This Will Happen When A Truck Has Been Sitting For Almost A Year. Any Idea What It Is Worth. It Has 86,000 Miles
Thank You,vinnie James

Right now they are worth about what a regular '98 F-150 is worth. Something in the $5K to $8K range. A lot of people took off the NASCAR stickers because they felt they were tacky looking. You can still buy them, but the replacement ones are not like the factory ones. Factory ones faded at the ends where the replacements don't. Replacements run around $500. Goodyear discontinued he yellow lettered tires awhile back. My spare is still one of the original's. Here's a pic of my truck.
