I've read a few links on this site & i can't believe poeple are getting 20 mpg . I'm lucky to get 15 mpg. What gives???? Stock 06 250 sc 4x4 373 limited slip . Truck gets regular maintance 50 000 km . Thats a big difference in mpg 25% to be exact. Whats modes can be done to help this without voiding the warranty
I have a stock 2006 F250 CC SB FX4 with 373s and I get about the same as you do. I think most folk that get the 20+ have the 6 speed trannys or have many mods on there trucks. The best that I have seen is 16.6 mpg on flat highway doing 55 mph.

Running down the interstate at 75-80 MPH on cruise control, I average high 16's to low 17's. If I drop that down to around 70, I gain 1-1.5 MPG. I managed to make one trip where I had cruise control set at 65 MPH (for around 300 miles), and I was in the 19.7 MPG range.
Unfortunately for me, I have a hard time doing less than the speed limit...
I have a 05 6.0 6-speed regular cab. When new, I could always get 19 on the interstate at 73 mph and 2000 rpm. Now, after numerous re-flashes and service visits and with 40,000 miles, given the exact same conditions, I can only manage 16.5. I think you are probably normal.
Picked up my 07 super cab last monday. The dealer had a half tank in it.It averaged 14.2 according to the gauge. After many resets that was about the best i was getting around town,on the highway i got mid 16.I filled it up on sunday treated it with 7 oz of howes meaner power cleaner.Around town now it gets high 16 and the best i got on a long strech of highway was 20.2.Not sure if the additive made the difference or not but i think so.I use the power cleaner in my 650 hp lobster boat and it save me approx .3 gal an hour.On the boat without additive i get 4.7 gal an hour, with it i use 4.3/4.4 an hour.Don't forget these are actual hour meter readings.
I have gotten as high as 21 in mine but that was at a constant 55 MPH (the speed limit on most 2 lane roads in Oregon). When I drive 65 I get around 18 mpg, I think the 34" tires work to keep the rpm low and improve fuel mileage.

THANKS for the input. But i don't drive that fast. 110 115 kpm . Are you guys hauling anything or empty??/ mine is mixed.
110 kpm, as in kilometers per minute?!? What do you have in that thing?!?
And, that mileage is running without a trailer or load. Although, even when I throw my little 6'x10' enclosed trailer & Harley on the hitch, my mileage really doesn't change noticably. (I think it is around ~3,200lbs total.)
110 - 115 KPH comes out to 68 - 71MPH...so that's in the range of some of my figures.
Now, why you aren't seeing the same basic numbers, is hard to say. Not every truck is created equal. Little things play a large role in fuel economy. Tire pressure, road surface, cross/head/tail winds, terrain, etc. Hell, even something as simply as rolling down an on-ramp onto a highway at wide opened throttle can negate any fuel economy benefit gained by driving slow, steady and easy for over a 100 miles.
If it is any consolation, I used to have a 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab with a 5.9L (360) in it. The best I ever saw out of it was just shy of 16 MPG. Kind of funny that a truck that weighs in about 3,000lbs heavier can get even better fuel economy. (Moral of the story: Even with less, you could get less....I suppose.)

During my daily driving (some highway, mostly street), I normally get 15-16 MPG. While I don't get on it hard very often, I also don't baby it. On a all highway run, if I keep my speed down (less than 70), I get over 19MPG. These are all empty ratings. On a recent trip (3372 miles) pulling a 7000# trailer, I would get 12-13MPG. These are all hand calculated.
Besides the normal (tire pressure and driving habits), it seems that the biggest contributor to low mileage is speed. If you keep the engine under 2000 RPM (on my 2006, 6.0, Auto, 3.73) that is 70MPH. Keeping well under greatly improves MPG.
Now to level set. I used to have a 1996 F250 with the 460V8 (7.5L). I got 10-11MPG on it empty, no matter what, Uphill, downhill, head or tail wind. The best tank I EVER got was 12. When pulling the same 7000# trailer, I would get about 7MPG. After putting Headers on it, I got 9MPG with the Trailer but no appricable change when empty. So all that being said, I am still very happy with the mileage of the 6.0 especially considering that it has so much more power and Diesel is cheaper than gas (at least most of the time).
