I have had my truck for about 1 1/2 months. I have 3 sounds that I am not sure what they are.
1. After start up if I go back by the exaust it goes from a idle sound to a jet engine wussh sound is this normal?
2. When I go to start the truck right before the gloe plug light goes out I hear a buzz noise.
3. After start up some times not all I get a thump. It may be an air vent closing but I am not sure.
Oh, and that "whooosh" sound could be normal sounds of exhaust going though the turbo. Especially since I just learned in that other thread that the wastegate opens at idle. Could be that causing some funny noises...
Just be carful about parking another car next to your truck. I parked my wifes car next to my truck last winter and it got pushed over 3 feet from the jet wash!
I think Kris (strokin_it7.3) lives not too far from you.He is a very knowledgable poster. You might get a chance to hook up with him and he may be able to diagnose what you have going on a little better.
I haven't seen him on the forum for a few days so he may be on vacation, but you should try PM'ing him and talk with him at least.
Here is his profile
yep you're hearing the blend door slam shut or a coolant slug hitting (this is up to who you ask). The jet is the exhaust in the turbo. The buzzing is either the fuel pump (under the drivers door) or the vacuum pump (under the hood on the passenger's side fender).

Joe, forgot about the vacuum pump -- what I'm hearing could be that, too. I guess I ought to have the wifey turn the key with me listening under the hood to verify. Not tonight, though...
Kris is on a cruise right now, but I think he and Rusty are about 15 miles apart, as the crow flies...

I guess Kris does not have WIFI or hotspot on that ship. I know he was wanting to put that new laptop to good use.
As for the jet sound in the exhaust, I would just about bet the farm it is the EBPV and 60 is a tad warm for that to come on. It is close though if I recall, I don't have my manual in the house right now but somehow I want to say the EOT EBV activation temp is 58*f. Could always disconnect the EBPV and see if it is gone on startup. I wouldn't even fool with it since it probably doesn't do it when it is warm and your temps are close overnight.
