Long story,but I had and 02 7.3,great truck!!heard all about the allision,dmax,so i traded it,(mistake) So i traded it on an 06 6.0, ford mistake,got mad traded it right away for 06 8.1 chebby.Now I relize I have to have my ford,my 5er only weighs 10k,my 8.1 pulls it ok,and make no mistake gas just wont pull like a diesel.but maint etc,I want gas,I am really wanting the v-10,do you think it will pull as well as the 8.1 with the 6spd ally?I know the truck will be alot nicer looking IMO.
The v-10 makes more power than the 8.1 so i would think it would pull it fine. You would really need to consider the 4.30 gear ratio for optimal towing.
As to the V10 power, in other posts in the Superduty forum there is discussion about some ongoing car magazine tests where the V10 is comparing quite favorably to the 6.0.
