I have a 1973 F-100 and an inertia switch from a 80s/90s Ford (part # F5AB-9341-AA, so I assume 1995). I would like to place it inline somewhere in the truck so if it is activated that power is cut to the engine.
A 1995 inertia switch is fused at 20 Amps so I would think you would want to put it inline with the large Yellow wire going to the Ignition Switch. Take the fuse link off at the starter solenoid and hook it to the inertia switch and the other side to the starter solenoid coming from the battery.
I do not know if it could handle all of the small wires there as I do not know what else you have on your truck (lights, amp and so on) but you could try I guess.
The enertia switch was made for a specific purpose for fuel injected vehicles, and I think Ford is the only one that really used it that I know of. What is your purpose for using it in a old truck?
As just in case feature... my wife and I have a friend that in the 90s had her legs burned off to just below the knees and killed her sister cause the vehicle she was in did not have an inertia switch... so, for a couple of bucks I don't see any harm in adding one inline to the truck...
