Bulit for nascar, but back in the day you had to produce 1000 units fir the public to make a car eligible to race in NASCAR.
interestingly the nose and wings are aluminum instead of fiberglass because in testing, the fiberglass was coming apart when they got abouve 120 MPH.

Aren't Daytona and Superbird noses actually made of steel as fiberglass tended to warp and break over time????

I have a 70 Superbird and it has its original steel nose and wing.

thanks, i left that out, for production they used steel for longevity purposes, but the wind tunnel prototypes used aluminum.
i love old mopar musclecars, what engine in in your car?

It's a 440 4V Super Commando with a 4 spd and 3.54 Dana.

1970 Plymouth Superbird : basicaly a 1970 Road Runner with front fenders from 1970 Dodge Coronet, a 18 inch steel nose, and a 25 inch tall air foil

440 ci RB (Super Commando)

375 HP at 4600 RPM
480 ft/lb at 3200 RPM
9.7/1 compression ratio
4.32 inches bore
3.75 inches stroke
Hydraulic valve lifters
